Kit Harington will say goodbye to his defining role as Jon Snow when Game of Thrones comes to an end, but the actor is already looking forward to a possible new job ahead: fatherhood. The 32-year-old actor, who wed co-star Rose Leslie last year, hinted at potentially becoming a dad once the behemoth that is GoT is all over.
“The most important job I’ll ever have is about to finish,” Harington told InStyle, but he quickly corrected himself. “Well, not the most. Hopefully, I’ll be a father.”
Harington and Leslie are deeply private about their personal lives, but the actor has occasionally dropped hints about their relationship in interviews. While speaking to GQ Australia earlier this year, he pointed out that their future children would have the unique opportunity of being able to see their parents work together and fall in love onscreen (probably minus a few provocative scenes).
“It dawned on me, recently,” he told the magazine. “And I have no idea if we will, but say me and Rose do have children. They’ll know. They’ll be able to see the genesis of their parents getting together. Which is quite a wonderful thought, really.”
He added, “I thank the show for everything. But more than anything else, I thank it for introducing me to her.”
Harington and Leslie first met in 2012 on the set of Game of Thrones, and their professional relationship soon turned into a romance. After years of quietly dating, they announced their engagement in September 2017, and tied the knot months later in June 2018. As expected, several of their GoT cast members attended the ceremony, including Emilia Clarke, Peter Dinklage, Maisie Williams, and Sophie Turner.
